David has 30 years of experience developing and applying computational intelligence tools to solve real-world problems. From 2008-2010 he was managing director of the Lincoln Vale Adaptive Strategies fund, a hedge fund that utilized evolutionary computing technology for predicting global equities markets. In 1993, David co-founded Natural Selection, Inc., an internationally recognized firm in the area of bioinspired computing. David is a Fellow of the IEEE, a recipient of an IEEE Technical Field Award, and served as the president of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (2008-2009). He holds a Ph.D and M.S. in engineering sciences (systems science) from the University of California at San Diego, and received the B.S. in mathematical sciences (probability and statistics) from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
